We carry a range of student instruments, suitable for complete beginner, improving, intermediate and advanced students.
Often your teacher will let you know the size of instrument you need. If not, bring your child to the shop and we can measure their arm length and advise what will be best for them.
Renting an instrument means you are only making a monthly payment. This means that if you decide it’s not for you, you can return the instrument. If you fall in love with playing the instrument, then you know it’s time to buy your own.
When dealing with younger students, we are aware that they will grow! When it’s time to change up to a bigger instrument, just contact us and we’ll get the next size ready for you to swap. Usually the cost remains the same unless you’ve changed to a much better quality instrument.
When string instruments arrive with us, we spend a few hours on each one checking it works at its best and is ready to play. This includes carving the bridge and bridge feet so that they fit perfectly. We also check the string height (action) so you don’t have to push down too much to create the sound. Finally we make sure the intonation is right, so the instrument is in tune with itself.
Teachers sometimes recommend specific brands or makes of instrument. We will try to find some that the teacher is happy with or an equivalent. Often we allow students to take instruments to their lesson so that they know the teacher is 100% happy.
Usually instrument prices cover the instrument only. A case, accessories or bow are all extra. Some beginner instruments come as a package with everything you’ll need. When renting, we make sure you have everything you need included in the rental price.
